Volunteers of America of Greater Los Angeles is a large, national not-for-profit organization founded in 1896. We provide a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans’ services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation. The Administrative Assistant will provide support to the Program Manager, Program Coordinator, and Benefit Specialists. Duties will include data entry, paperwork processing, and supporting other team members with various tasks. Qualified candidates will have experience working with under served populations and providing administrative support in an office environment.


The Administrative Assistant

  • Provides administrative support to the Program Manager, Program Coordinator, and Benefit Specialists
  • Assist in day to day operations by answering phones, maintaining spreadsheets and confidential files, completing work order forms, and maintaining front office activities
  • Ensure that all files are processed accurately
  • Provide quality assurance of documentation
  • Other special projects as assigned


  • Bachelor's Degree in social work, social services, public administration, public health or related field
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and have an understanding of culturally-appropriate service delivery methods
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of office procedures
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • HMIS experience preferred

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience working with under served populations
  • Valid California driver's license and adequate insurance
