Pathways is the largest homeless shelter in Los Angeles, providing a diverse group of services. Comprehensive Case Management Services, Affordable Housing Assistance, Transitional Housing Programs, Permanent Housing Placements, JWCH Mobile Clinic, Department of Health Services, USC-HIV Study/Prevention.


The Activities Specialist

  • Plan, coordinate, attend, and supervise all activities such as picnics, sporting events, dances, and dinners
  • Assist with producing a calendar of events for the program
  • Set-up and clean-up after events
  • Help maintain a tracking sheet to monitor attendance, vendor utilization, income, and expenses for each activity
  • Assist with ensuring all invoices are paid in a timely manner; document all payments
  • Assist with training Activity department team members and volunteers
  • Assist with producing a calendar of events for the next calendar season, while ensuring to stay within budget expectations
  • Assist with preparing newsletters and distribute to clientele
  • Assist with organizing and fundraising activities to support the department
  • Maintain accurate office and activity supply inventories
  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are kept in good condition
  • Other duties as assigned


  • High school diploma or GED
  • Familiarity and ease working with issues related to homelessness, substance abuse, mental health diagnosis, and history of trauma
  • Basic computer skills to facilitate the creation of: flyers, donation tracking, monthly calendars, and on-going scheduling
  • Excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects with deadlines
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office

Additional Requirements:

  • Current California driver's license and clean driving record
  • Team leadership, stress and time management skills
