About the job:
We're looking for a Materials QC Technician to support sourcing, characterizing, and applying these functional materials in new and exciting ways.
This position is a good fit for a passionate, curious, and independent professional who gets excited about interesting results, and gets skeptical when numbers come out a bit too clean. We are a small team, which means that there is room to grow beyond your role, depending on skill set and interest.
Independently conducting test suites and QC procedures
Data collection, organization, and parsing
Writing and maintaining SOP’s, SDS’s, data collection templates, and health & safety documentation
Running, maintaining and sourcing lab equipment and supplies
Scheduling and running wet and dry shelf life testing
Sample storage, labeling, organization, and disposal for wet and dry samples
Creating and maintaining databases for material test data
Conducting user testing and training for new processes, products, and test procedures
A successful applicant should have:
Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work independently
Critical thinking skills for thorough and effective data analysis
A background in chemistry, physics, statistics, and data management
Experience in lab position (academia or industry) with WHMIS certification
Demonstrated aptitude for presenting data and summarizing results in context
Ability to independently schedule and execute regular data collection to balance multiple ongoing investigations
Ability to conduct literature reviews and stay current with emerging technologies
Bonus points for:
Design of experiments and statistical techniques
Subject matter knowledge in polymer science, rheology, fluid mechanics, conductive inks, printed electronics, materials characterization techniques, dispensing technologies, and/or additive manufacturing
Any tangential but helpful skills:
Mechanical / Electrical CAD
3D Printing experience
Electronics hobby projects (if you have something you've built, we'd love to see it!)
