Soompi, a subsidiary of Rakuten Viki, is one of the biggest global K-pop news sites and the longest-running fandom community. From innovative engagement features to original content and social shopping, Rakuten Viki and Soompi are pushing the boundaries of user engagement and social viewing.

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our UX & Design team. This position is full-time and based in Singapore. At Viki, we believe that empathy is key to creating meaningful products and experiences for our users. Hence, UX research is an integral part to our design process from start to end.

One of the priorities for Viki this year is to improve our users’ experiences. You’ll be designing new holistic experiences; we’ve accrued design debt over the years, while at the same time the users’ needs have evolved as well. As such our products need to evolve and grow more. You’ll be helping to shape the discussions on what good user experiences will be like for our users, designing products that our users love to use not only because of the content we provide, but also because of how our products work and fit into their lives.

We are a lean team and as such a challenge will be to juggle multiple projects and products at the same time across multiple platforms (Web, iOS, Android, TV apps). You’ll be working closely with Product, Business and Marketing teams and Engineers to understand, research and translate requirements into products.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute research tailored to respective design challenges,

  • Mapping out the different user journeys in more details,

  • Storytelling chops, bringing these user stories and insights to life,

  • Present insights and rally the team to co-create solutions,

  • Driven by data and UX research, designing and analyzing interactions to support key growth metrics,

  • Developing user flows, UI specs and mock-ups as needed,

  • Creating design prototypes, micro-interactions and transitions,

  • Conducting usability tests.

 

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Interaction, Graphic Design, or related field a plus

  • 4+ years of experience as a professional UI/UX Designer for consumer products

  • Creative. See things differently and come up with solutions that solve problems

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact with both technical and nontechnical people, strong opinions loosely held.

  • Familiarity with human-centered design methodologies

  • Familiarity with both quantitative and qualitative research methods

  • Ability to establish rapport with users during interviews

  • Ability to analyse data from various metrics and surveys

  • Experience working in start-up and/or media company environments

  • Experience working in an international company and/or love of global entertainment or cultures
