Research and Reporting Manager

Job Description

The impact of chronic conditions on health care is immense: chronic diseases, including diabetes and heart disease, affect up to 1 in 3 individuals. Up to 1 in 4 people also struggle with mental health concerns. These chronic conditions drive 80% of the over $3 trillion dollars we spend on health-care in the US.

Vida Health is working to address this need. Our goal is to help people better manage their health by making positive changes to the way they live. Using our mobile-first platform, we connect people to programs backed by research and give them one-on-one support from personal health coaches or therapists. Clients meet with their coaches or therapists using secure in-app video chat and messaging. By collecting real-time data from the client and their devices, Vida is able to guide clients' progress over time and help them make sustainable improvements to their health.

About the role:

A critical part of our work involves a regular need to create reports for clients and publish outcomes in peer-reviewed journals. The Research and Reporting Manager will serve in a versatile role with a variety of functions to support our clinical team and help optimize our digital therapeutic programs. You will facilitate the data cleaning process and provide high-quality analyses of both clinical outcomes data and healthcare claims data. Our approach involves continuously assessing and improving program effectiveness; clinical analytics is the foundation of this iterative approach. You will provide clinical analytics support to help facilitate continuous quality improvement for Vida programs.  This role will collaborate with internal partners across product, design, engineering, research, and health coaching. They will also serve as a key champion for Vida's evidence based and results-driven culture.

About you:

You have a background in clinical analytics as well as at least some clinical background. You are a wizard with at least one statistical software package and have experience with tech, as well as enthusiasm for startup culture. Ideally you are familiar with the science of health behavior change. You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to be a part of developing a truly disruptive healthcare innovation. You aspire to leverage technology and personalization to provide the right approaches to the right people, with an eye towards measurably improving health outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Data quality control and cleaning
  • Routine data reporting for clients
  • Healthcare claims analyses
  • Clinical outcomes analyses
  • Supporting peer-reviewed publication efforts
  • Generating slides that summarize outcomes analyses
  • Using methodology such as scrum to help organize and prioritize tasks
  • Participate in special teams including agile teams and task forces as assigned on quarterly basis targeting Vida initiatives

Required skills:

  • Some clinical background
  • Clinical analytics training and experience
  • Experience analyzing healthcare claims data and clinical outcomes data (both biometric and self-reported)
  • Extensive experience utilizing at least one statistical software package (eg, R, SAS, Stata)
  • Experience with cost of care analyses, claim files and definitions
  • Experience/familiarity with ICD-10 coding
  • Experience working with insurance organizations to acquire claims data for analysis
  • Experience and training in analysis of time unstructured longitudinal data (eg, multilevel mixed-effects models [linear mixed models], etc.)
  • Experience in the healthcare technology space
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary technical teams including product managers, designers, and engineers
  • Experience in data management
  • Basic knowledge of behavioral interventions and approaches to behavior change
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, data privacy guidelines as they relate to PHI and digital health
  • Ability to independently plan and manage complex projects and meet deadlines
  • Proactive and collaborative working style with capacity to pivot priorities and balance multiple simultaneous projects

Qualifications:

  • PhD with clinical analytics training/experience
  • Master's plus experience also considered
  • 3-5+ years experience in clinical analytics
  • 3-5+ years experience in digital health
