Exciting Opportunity as Assistant General Counsel

Verifi is growing rapidly and we have a need to expand our legal team with folks who are passionate, hardworking and like to have fun while supporting our company with a variety of legal support services.

You will be responsible for assisting our General Counsel with a diversified range of responsibilities including:

  • Proactively providing legal counsel, advice and representation, to various business teams on a variety of legal risks and opportunities including regulatory, employment, contracts, sales/business development, marketing, real estate, intellectual property, branding guidelines, data privacy, and other business matters
  • Oversee external IP counsel and all pending IP matters
  • Drafting, review, revising and providing feedback on all types of legal contracts both domestic and international including services, leases, vendor agreements, ndas, etc.
  • Partner with the Compliance team to assist teams in ensuring compliance with the laws and regulations affecting their operations.
  • Participating in legal updates to employee handbooks, information security documentation, vendor management, etc.
  • Support legal needs associated with global expansion (corporate formation, employment, marketing guidelines, and regulatory requirements)
  • Willing to roll up your sleeves and work on not only complex, but even the simplest tasks
  • Other duties as assigned


You must bring to the table:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited law school with at least 10+ years of relevant experience in a corporate or in-house setting
  • Active member of the California State Bar
  • Must have experience with complex international commercial contracts, trademark and patent management/laws
  • Ability to handle a broad range of general legal matters and work effectively with all levels of business unit personnel in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical and strategic business decision making/problem solving skills
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with internal business units as well as with management
  • Ability to provide sound legal advice to implement business goals pragmatically
  • Strong communication skills, including formal presentation skills and ability to craft communications appropriate to the designated audience
  • Self-discipline, results-orientation, and ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Must have incredible legal research/writing skills with incredible attention to detail


Additionally, but not a must:

  • Litigation experience
  • Expertise with M & A
  • Knowledge within the e-commerce and payments space
  • Knowledge of corporate governance, business filings, etc.
