Position Summary:
Vera is seeking a Senior Accountant to join an experienced, fast-paced, and collaborative team. The Senior Accountant will report to the Senior Director of Accounting and will be assisting with daily accounting operations and month-end close process. This position will require interaction and collaboration with all departments throughout the company.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparing month-end journal entries along with the supporting workbook.
- Responsible for preparing balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Prepares monthly and quarterly accruals.
- Prepares assigned prepaids amortization schedules and maintains accuracy of subledgers.
- Verifies that transactions are properly supported, in accordance with pertinent policies and are classified, and recorded according to acceptable accounting standards.
- Collaborates and works with Accounts Payable team to resolve any vendor or billing issues.
- Supports implementation of internal controls, including identifying process improvements and operational efficiencies. Performs key controls in areas of responsibility.
- Gathers and prepares requests for external auditors and other professional service providers.
- Supports User Acceptance Testing for system implementations or upgrades.
- Assists with business and tax filings.
- Provides support for special projects, initiatives, and analyses, as needed, or requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent working experience.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in a public company. Life science industry preferred.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to anticipate events, prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and growth- oriented environment.
- Ability and willingness to adapt to change quickly (high flexibility); high personal motivation; ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as a collaborative team player.
- Self-starter, proactive, and willing to learn.
- Proficiency with Excel.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred.
- Experience with NetSuite is preferred.

For this role, the starting anticipated base pay range begins at $72,000 . The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geography, qualifications, skills, and experience.
At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity.
