Vera Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for immunological and Inflammatory diseases that improve patients’ lives. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Director of Contracts Management to join a fast-paced and collaborative team. This leadership position will be responsible for the oversight of all contracts and manage vendor relationships across the Research and Development organization.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and oversight of the life cycle management of the vendor and consultant contracting process
- Strong understanding of and experience with the development and finalization of vendor contract and budgets as well as investigator/ site clinical trial agreements
- Manage day to day activities in negotiating and finalizing complex contracts, which includes all R&D (clinical, non-clinical & CMC)
- Strong working knowledge of contract language and issues related to subject injury compensation, confidentiality, publications, regulatory, compliance, privacy and patent issues, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of site budgets for investigator and sponsor-initiated trials to ensure solutions are within the approved framework of the US legal and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with clinical trial teams and CRO partners to develop and negotiate budgets while ensuring that all costs are competitive and commensurate
- Experience in developing study budgets and forecasts, as well as tracking actuals
- Work independently while meeting anticipated internal and external timelines
- Collaborate closely with internal team members and vendors to ensure timely execution of agreements
- Identifies issues/problems and provides recommendations for solutions
- Execute responsibilities with minimal oversight and high competency
- Has an understanding of the regulatory implications and obligations of contracts as related to clinical research
- Ability to make critical decisions related to projects and tasks
- Demonstrates ability to work in a face paced environment
- Ability to use spreadsheets and tracking tools
- Display strong organizational/project management/interpersonal and communication skills
- Exhibit a positive attitude, a respect for others and ability to work independently as well as collectively
Qualifications:
- BS or higher in life sciences or health-related field
- 8+ years clinical contract management experience, inclusive of investigator-initiated trial contract and budget negotiation within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
- Demonstrated clinical trial contracting experience
- Experience with clinical trial/medical process improvements as well as implementation
- Flexible self-starter to operate in a fast-pace start-up environment
- Ability to develop out of the box solutions with limited infrastructure typical in a start-up environment
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in cross-functional team environment
- Proficiency with MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project)
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communications
- Innovative, analytical and extremely organized to drive projects to completion
