Uniti Fiber has 2 long term contract opportunities available for Small Cell Construction & Small Cell Implementation Manager. These positions will cover Orlando, Tampa, & Jacksonville FL.  Trips to Jacksonville will be monthly, but back and forth travel between Orlando and Tampa can be expected. Position Title: Small Cell Construction Manager

Market: Florida; Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville market coverage

Status: Long Term Contract: 12-18 month

Uniti Fiber is searching for a Small Cell Construction Manager. This is a contract position that will be responsible for the effective construction management of all assigned small cell projects in each market. Coordinate schedules, deliverables and requirements for the construction team. Ensure small cells are built per customer agreements, service orders and contracts. Ensure the Uniti leadership team is aware of issues that impede progress or increase costs and develop mitigation plans.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage small cell construction from permit approval to as built delivery.
  • Work with project manager to accurately forecast construction starts and completion schedules.
  • Lead Uniti RFP process and make recommendations on vendor selection.
  • Ensure all construction work is OSHA compliant.
  • Maintain construction tracking system that is complete and accurate.
  • Develop and maintain quality punch lists.
  • Develop and review customer closeout packages.
  • Maintain inventory and logistics of customer and Uniti provided equipment and hardware.
  • Coordinate construction completion with OSP team for fiber delivery and small cell testing.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and/or fiber issues prior to site delivery.
  • Work with customer operations team for small cell testing and acceptance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Understanding of outside plant, NESC code, NEC code and OSHA standards.
  • Knowledge of construction services including power, fiber and radio and antenna configurations.
  • Familiarity with test records including OTDR, PIM, power meter and RF sweeps.
  • Knowledge of site acquisition procedures.
  • Five years wireless and/or outside plant construction experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Willingness to travel and support additional markets.
  • Customer facing experience.

Coordinate schedules, deliverables and requirements for the project team. Ensure projects are completed per customer agreements, service orders and contracts. Ensure the Uniti leadership team is aware of issues that impede progress or increase costs and develop mitigation plans.

  • Manage all projects from kickoff to closeout delivery.
  • Coordinate site walk schedules and teams to identify small cell candidate locations.
  • Manage small cell design based on customer, jurisdictional and pole owner requirements.
  • Supervise A&E to produce construction drawings, permit applications and structural analysis.
  • Coordinate small cell construction and OSP fiber delivery.
  • Oversee construction managers, closeout package delivery and inventory processes.
  • Manage contractors to stay within project timelines and budget.
  • Maintain project tracking system that is complete and accurate.
  • Lead internal and external meetings to provide project status, risks and mitigation plans.
  • Attend municipal meetings to understand and implement jurisdictional preference in design.
  • Other duties as assigned.
