The Role

Unified is looking for an Accounting Manager to join its growing team.  The position is located at Unified’s  New York City HQ office. This position represents an outstanding opportunity for a hands-on manager with proven financial operations and accounting experience, supervisory skills and relevant industry knowledge to manage key accounting functions including the monthly accounting close.  NetSuite experience a plus.  A CPA and/or CMA/CGMA designation is preferred.  


  • Own key aspects of monthly, quarterly and annual close process including balance sheet account reconciliations, expense accruals, and preparation of audit-ready workpapers; influence process to maximize efficiencies and timeliness

  • Supervise accounts payable, vendor management, expense reporting and payroll process

  • Review monthly, quarterly, and annual Balance Sheet and P&L analysis

  • Collaborate with Revenue Manager in working capital management activities including weekly cash projections

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to management,

  • Identify and ensure compliance with applicable guidance, interpret applicable US GAAP

  • Coordinate external audits and achieve auditor consensus on company accounting decisions

  • Create, implement and maintain comprehensive, clear and consistent accounting policy documents; develop policies and procedures for end-to-end accounting functions and data workflow.

  • Develop and test internal controls without impeding business goals

  • Leverage NetSuite to continuously improve accounting efficacy to support and enhance financial reporting

  • Facilitate preparation of tax provision, statutory filings, nexus review, commercial rent and business taxes, registrations and related compliance.  Collaboration with Revenue Manager on sales tax compliance

  • Ability to supervise senior and staff accounting resources based on experience completing those duties in the past.

  • Complete other tasks assigned by the VP, FInance



  • Demonstrated career success in roles with increasing responsibility and complexity

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP including revenue recognition, general accounting, consolidations, intercompany arrangements (including transfer pricing), compensation accounting, and stock-based compensation

  • Understanding of revenue recognition rules for software, SaaS and professional services businesses

  • Experience with reviewing and understanding contracts to evaluate proper revenue recognition, billing and tax treatment a plus

  • Advanced proficiency with accounting systems, data management and Excel (including pivot tables and other advanced functions)

  • Adept at preparing and understanding financial statements, identifying and interpreting relevant data, and drawing conclusions

  • Ability to present complex or arcane information and differing points of view clearly and concisely

  • Effective process manager who leads others by example, inspires confidence, and shows humility

  • Outstanding analytical abilities with an unwavering attention to detail; naturally curious

  • Highly-organized, creative, goal-oriented, service-minded, self-starting, versatile and enthusiastic

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; exceptional technical writing ability

  • Gravitas to work effectively with executives and staff across all levels and departments

  • Comfortable navigating high-growth, dynamic entrepreneurial environments

  • 5-7 years experience in private and/or public accounting required

  • NetSuite experience preferred

  • eShares experience a plus

  • Salesforce knowledge a plus

  • Desire and ability to work as a service-oriented team player with a sense of urgency and aspiration for accuracy

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field required; CPA and or CMA/CGMA designation strongly preferred
