We are seeking a Senior IBM iSeries + Synon IT Technical Analyst to join our team and play a crucial role in maintaining and supporting core iSeries software applications that are vital to our client’s operations.
This is a hands-on position that requires a deep understanding of IBM iSeries technology, Synon development, and enterprise application support.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide application support by managing and resolving P1–P4 tickets raised by end-users.
Monitor batch job executions and take appropriate corrective actions.
Deliver problem resolutions and support daily operations across environments.
Implement minor enhancements and upgrades to existing applications.
Analyze functional and technical requirements and propose tailored solutions.
Draft technical designs and suggest process improvements based on application knowledge.
Work with data models and architecture diagrams to support informed analysis and development.
Coordinate and execute Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises with cross-functional teams.
Support internal and external audits by preparing and submitting necessary documentation and data.
Review code changes associated with bug fixes, enhancements, and large development efforts.
Plan, implement, and test new software rollouts on the iSeries server and related devices.
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, user manuals, and training guides.
Mentor team members in the technical and functional aspects of supported applications.
Liaise with internal infrastructure, risk, and IT teams to support operations and initiatives.
Interact with third-party vendors for licensing, renewals, and product support management.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience with IBM iSeries (AS/400), RPG, CL, RPG ILE.
5+ years of recent hands-on experience with Synon (within the last 7 years).
Strong command of SQL – capable of writing, analyzing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex queries.
Solid experience across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Proven experience with ROBOT Scheduler configuration and management.
Familiarity with iSeries web server and web-based integrations of low to medium complexity.
Exposure to network and connectivity concepts, including FTP and driver-based data exchange.
Experience with productivity tools like Hawkeye and Journals Made Easy.
Strong communication skills with a professional and collaborative approach.
Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities and workstreams effectively.
Working knowledge of change management tools; experience with MKS Implementer is highly preferred.
Comfortable working across complex workflows and multi-system environments.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools as required.
