Control-M Batch Engineer

We are seeking a Control-M Batch Engineer in Zurich with strong expertise in BMC Control-M administration, batch operations, and job scheduling.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing batch processes while ensuring smooth production workflows. The role requires a solid understanding of job scheduling, escalation procedures, and automation, along with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
This is an onsite job for people residing in Zürich.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Batch Operations & Monitoring:
Monitor batch jobs using BMC Control-M and handle alerts, job failures, and workflow escalations.
Perform job scheduling, workflow design, calendar creation, and batch job monitoring.
Take ownership of production batch problems and ensure permanent resolution.
Perform initial triage and troubleshooting on failed jobs (abends) and escalate as needed.
Execute operations such as HOLD, FREE, RE-RUN, FORCE-OK, By-Pass, Kill, and Delete for batch jobs.
✅ Control-M Administration & Maintenance:
Deploy, configure, and upgrade BMC Control-M environments, including Control-M/Agent installations.
Set up, configure, and maintain MFT (Managed File Transfer) and other integrations.
Maintain Control-M high-availability (Failover/Fallback) and disaster recovery setups.
Provide solutions to batch scheduling and operations teams for Control-M-related issues.
Ensure best practices for job scheduling, workload automation, and system performance tuning.
✅ Automation & Scripting:
Implement Control-M automation API for improved efficiency.
Develop and troubleshoot scripts using Shell, PowerShell, and Perl on UNIX/Windows systems.
Work with SQL and databases to optimize batch job performance.
Leverage Control-M add-ons such as Self-Service, Workload Change Manager, Workload Archival, BIM, and Application Integrator.
✅ Incident & Change Management:
Handle high-impact operational issues and escalate based on the escalation matrix.
Collaborate with L2/L3 support teams to resolve batch failures and job scheduling issues.
Maintain batch job documentation and reporting for compliance and audit purposes.
Follow ITIL processes for incident and change management.
Must-Have Skills:
✔ 4 to 7 years of experience in BMC Control-M Administration.
✔ Hands-on experience in batch job scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production control.
✔ Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
✔ Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and resolve issues efficiently.
✔ Sound knowledge of Control-M modules/plugins (MFT, SAP, OEBS, DB, Java, Informatica).
✔ Experience in Control-M High Availability setup (Failover/Fallback).
✔German and English fluency is a must
