Video Encoding Engineer

About the Position:

Twitch is building the future of interactive entertainment, and video is at the very core of that vision. Our small, talented team is working with a large video system with short feedback loops from our customers.  High quality, low bandwidth transcoded video is a differentiator for us in our field, allowing us to be the best video gaming experience. We are in the process of 10x-ing our video system and video encoding with affect our customers while enabling new possibilities as we re-engineer our vide system for the future. 



  • Own the transcode product.  Work on our video transcoding development and architecture. Your product will be easy to use, scalable and maintainable.
  • Tune and optimize our transcoding stack, including the transcoding library.
  • Work with the rest of the video team to make sure our video system has the highest quality of service.



  • 5+ years of sofware engineering experience and expertise in video encoding.
  • You have experience writing/optimizing H.264 encoding libraries.
  • You are an excellent C programmer.
  • You know how to ship code in fast, iterative cycles.
