About the Job
We’re looking for a VP of Sales who’s as passionate about growth as they are about the outdoors. You’ll lead Turtle Fur’s sales strategy across North America and lay the foundation for global expansion in the next few years. This is a hands-on leadership role — part strategist, part builder, and part trailblazer. You’ll oversee independent sales rep agencies, deepen relationships with key retail partners, and open new business opportunities to drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial and thrives in a fast-paced environment where results and relationships go hand-in-hand.
Key Responsibility Overview
Lead Growth & Market Expansion
- Develop and execute the North American sales strategy with clear revenue and distribution goals.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in outdoor, lifestyle, snow, and adjacent channels to expand our core distribution and market share.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in brand-positive or neutral channels to drive revenue.
- Create and implement a multi-year roadmap for international expansion.
Manage & Inspire the Sales Team
- Establish regional growth strategies, drive in partnership with the regional reps.
- Recruit, coach, motivate and train independent rep agencies across territories, establishing clear seasonal expectations through score cards and other management tools.
- Establish performance KPIs and incentive structures that drive accountability and success.
- Manage Sales Operations & Customer Service team.
Build Strong Retail Partnerships
- Cultivate & own deep relationships with key accounts, especially management roles-local specialty shops to major outdoor retailers.
- Lead line showings and sell-in meetings that bring Turtle Fur’s story to life, in-person and virtual.
- Partner with the marketing team to ensure retailers have the tools and assets they need to succeed.
Stay Ahead of the Market
- Track trends, consumer behavior, & competitive movements to inform product and channel strategies.
- Provide timely reporting and insights to shape decision-making & brand direction
About You
- 8+ years of sales leadership experience in outdoor, snow, or lifestyle consumer brands, with demonstrated success expanding distribution and driving growth.
- Proven success leading independent sales reps, internal sales and sales operations teams.
- Proven success pioneering new business in North America.
- Deep understanding of today’s retail landscape — including omnichannel and digital sell-in dynamics.
- Excellent communicator, relationship builder, and team motivator.
- Demonstrated mastery of sales leadership and management; strong business acumen; excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills, ability to effectively work across entire organization and at all levels, and strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create effective strategies, clear plans, and manage budgets; ability to translatesales objectivesinto highest ROI and best net solutions.
- Excellent communication skills; written and verbal; active listener; effective presentation skills. Able to bea strongvoice for the brand and company.
- Ability to make good,timelydecisions – think quickly, act decisively, and inform others.
- Constantly drives results that meet company financial, quality, and operational objectives while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Experience in selling and significantly expanding a consumer brand.
- Experience within consumer products/soft goods/outdoor industry strongly preferred.
- A balance of quantitative, qualitative, and experiential decision making.
- Ability and willingness to work within a hands-on environment.
- Proven ability to create and successfully execute high-level sales strategies, plans, and budgets.
Working Environment/Physical Activities
