Contract Designer

Marketing | Austin, TX | Full Time

Job Description

Job Description:

TurnKey Vacation Rentals, Inc. ( is a leading, technology-enabled vacation rental management company started by former HomeAway/VRBO and Hotwire executives. Our home-base is located in Austin, Texas although a majority of our team members are located throughout the US to provide our services to properties in 40+ markets.

We're TurnKey and we're attempting to do what's never been done (more on this in a second) — we need a talented designer focused on print and web deliverables to help us scale.

Here's what your day-to-day will look like:

  • Work directly with marketing to execute postcards, brochures, web ads, 1-page PDFs in Illustrator and Sketch

  • Checking your work against our in-development company styleguide to make sure that your work is brand-aligned

  • Work with our UX team to develop on-brand, usable web page mockups

  • Work with our Executive and Sales department to create slide decks in Google Slides and Powerpoint

  • Take the results of your work and feed re-usable patterns back into the style guide for later use

  • Be a guardian for our brand! You need to be able to show a portfolio of having worked inside of a style guide, how you adhered to the brand and how you pushed it to be better

Here are the tools you must be fluent in:

  • Sketch

  • Illustrator

Nice to haves:

  • Photoshop / photo editing

  • InDesign / print layout

  • Experience with InVision

How we'll know you're right for this role

  • High-level portfolio with lots of experience laying out ads, webpages, logos, corporate PDFs, brochures, online ads, etc

  • You're confident that you're in the top 10% of design talent in Austin and can prove it by showing us other top designers that you use for comparison and inspiration (and to drive you to be better)

  • You don't take criticism personally.

  • You have a bead on the latest typography, layout, color and design trends.

  • You have a good network of fellow designers in Austin / You are part of a design community in Austin

  • You have a degree in art / design or can show a portfolio to make a degree moot

  • You are proactive — we'd rather mentor than manage

  • You are a good communicator. If you have a question, you speak up, and if there's a problem you take responsibility.

  • 3-8 years of design experience

So if you want to surround yourself with top talent who will push you to do the best work of your career — and people who you would choose to have a beer with after work — then this is a great opportunity for you
