Database Engineer

Job Description

A veteran back-end developer who loves relational databases and readily embraces extreme scalability and performance challenges.

What You'll Do:

  • Scale our MySQL infrastructure to support our rapidly-growing 100+ billion row data set
  • Develop powerful tooling, automation, and proxy software, capable of interacting with hundreds of servers concurrently
  • Build core functionality for our in-house framework’s database wrapper, lightweight ORM, and model base class
  • Gain a deeper understanding of MySQL and InnoDB’s internals
  • Architect data storage solutions to support new product initiatives
  • Lead the way in reducing complexity at the most fundamental layers of our technology stack

What We're Looking For:

  • A solid programmer with several years of experience focusing on back-end web development, database administration, or preferably a mix of the two
  • Proven success in a large-scale, high-throughput environment
  • Familiarity with relational databases as well as NoSQL solutions
  • Extensive knowledge of Linux
  • Curiosity, intelligence, and an equal willingness to learn and teach
