Based in our San Jose, CA headquarters, the Systems and Test Engineer, Electric Vehicles will be responsible for:


  • Systems engineering for integration of advanced traction control into electric vehicle platforms
  • Develop requirements and methods for integration of motor-generator controls with vehicle controls, battery management, brake and other systems in production vehicles
  • Develop and implement tests and methods to reverse engineer the functional interactions of automotive ECUs
  • Develop and validate test plans for new vehicle electronic systems for function, safety, and optimality
  • Proactively monitor operational safety of prototype vehicle components in test
  • Troubleshoot, analyze and root cause issues in vehicle systems and test equipment
  • Maintain accuracy of measurement devices and data acquisition systems
  • Design wiring harnesses to support electrical testing of components 
  • Write data processing scripts and reduce experimental data for presentation
  • Maintain issues list and manage resolutions with team
  • Communicate well-supported results and recommendations to team and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years' experience in automotive systems engineering focused on electric and/or hybrid powertrain systems
  • BS/MS electrical engineering or mechanical engineering with electrical focus
  • Strong background in vehicle ECU intercommunications and functional interactions over CAN bus
  • Experience with reverse engineering the functional interactions of automotive ECUs
  • Skills in maintaining quantitative operation of EV measurement devices and data acquisition systems
  • Effective use of bug tracking and resolution systems
  • Familiar with requirements and methods for certified MPGe testing of electric vehicles
  • Strong technical knowledge, analysis skills, communication, and self-initiative
