Job Description

Position Summary:

The Act 80 MAT Program Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to county jails across Pennsylvania to help develop, implement, and sustain Vivitrol programs in alignment with the Act 80 grant of 2015. This position promotes best practices, facilitates collaboration between county correctional facilities, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (PA DOC), and the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and delinquency (PCCD), and supports the expansion of non-narcotic treatment options—focusing on naltrexone—for incarcerated individuals with substance use disorders. Qualified candidates will be responsible for managing a caseload of counties throughout PA and providing resources from the PA DOC that will aid in enhancing or creating a program supporting the administration of Naltrexone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance to county jails regarding Vivitrol program development and implementation.
  • Offer in-house training sessions and coordinate site visits for county staff to observe Vivitrol programs at state correctional institutions.
  • Respond to questions about starting or expanding Vivitrol programs or overcoming operational challenges.
  • Communicate with jail administrators and medical staff to assess program needs and provide tailored support.
  • Notify counties when Act 80 grant applications open and guide them through the process as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of technical assistance provided and program outreach efforts.
  • Regularly contact county jails to discuss their current Vivitrol program status and identify additional needs or support opportunities.
  • Occasionally travel to county jails and state correctional institutions in Pennsylvania.
  • Enter correctional facilities as needed and demonstrate professionalism and appropriate conduct within secure environments.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in substance use treatment and working knowledge of Medication Assisted Treatment as a treatment option.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in social work is preferred.
