Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Social Work from an Accredited Social Work Program or equivalent education and experience.
- Basic computer skills to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Products.
Role Description:
MANDATORY TRAINING
All contract staff are required to attend new employee orientation and trainings for a period as determined by NSH. Most training will be provided during the normal day time business hours. Successful completion of all required training is mandatory. In addition, contract staff will be required to receive TB testing or provide proof of testing within the previous year.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
The hospital reserves the right to remove any unqualified contract staff if they cannot perform the assigned duties at an acceptable level that meet the Hospital’s standards of care, Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Conditions of Participation and standards of professional social work practice.
For all individuals on assigned caseload, duties of contract staff include, but are not limited to:
- Completing thorough admission and annual psychosocial assessments in a timely manner,
- Completing thorough social histories in a timely manner,
- Function as an integral member of an multidisciplinary treatment team and participate in all treatment planning meetings,
- In consultation with the SW Supervisor, provide required treatment and therapy sessions and case management functions.
- Obtain/maintain accurate family contact information and initiate phone contact on a regular basis,
- In collaboration with treatment team members, county liaisons and other stakeholders as identified, serve as the point person for development and implementation of a discharge plan for individuals identified as ready for discharge,
- Perform other related social work duties as assigned per NSH Departmental standards.
- Work in a Forensic Setting interacting with forensic patients, their attorney and other legal officials.
- MUST HAVE A BACHELOR DEGREE OR HIGHER IN SOCIAL WORK
MISCELLANEOUS
The Hospital will provide all contract staff with an Identification Badge, parking permit, and set of keys.
The contractor shall be required to sign a statement regarding confidentiality of consumer records, acknowledgement of consumer rights, acknowledgment regarding use of electronic equipment such as cell phones, and acknowledgment regarding information technology policy.

- Demonstrates professional conduct with coworkers/consumers.
- Demonstrates ethical behavior in the work place.
- Maintains a non-discriminatory work environment.
- Abides by the Governor’s Code of Conduct and DHS Personnel Regulations, policies and procedures, and Norristown State Hospital policies and procedures.
- Adheres to scheduled work hours.
- Complies with sign in/out procedures.
- Adheres to established procedures for reporting off work in accordance with mandated time frames.
- Has no unexcused instance of failure to contact the immediate supervisor or designee to notify him/her of absence.
- Reports all work-related accidents.
