Required Skills
· Write and edit in AP style and the Governor’s style
· Research topics quickly and effectively using reliable sources
· Build trust quickly and interact respectfully with a variety of people to facilitate meetings and workgroups
· Interview sources and write articles for use online, in print, and in social media
· Stay abreast of local, state, and national developments and trends in policy and practice concerning intellectual disabilities and autism
· Write in the voice of the deputy secretary or other ODP staff when necessary
· Editing and producing written and graphical materials, including accessible materials
· Skilled at developing infographics and translating information into plain language
· Attend events to meet individuals, family members, providers, and other stakeholders to develop sources
· Interview and write success stories on ODP staff, individuals, families, and providers
· Work independently and collaborate with coworkers and stakeholders
· Work on deadline
· Write, lay out, and edit: brochures, social media posts, articles, publications, reports, presentations, ODP communications, employee emails, talking points, flyers, brochures, posters, longer digital and print publications
· Assist with posting communications and events to MyODP
· Take photos and/or videos for use on websites, social media and in print
· Edit photos
· Create graphics, charts, and vectors to show information in a variety of ways
· Create visually cohesive and pleasing publications using a variety of media and computer programs
· Present information in a manner that is readily accessible to individuals with visual and/or intellectual disabilities
· Create electronic forms
· Learn new computer platforms and programs quickly
· Write press releases and proclamations
Required Skills:
· Proficient in Publisher, Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint
· Excellent verbal and written command of English
· Knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism
· Knowledge of accessibility and creating accessible documents/trainings/communications
· Knowledge of the Department of Human Services, its programs, particularly ODP and mission
· Present information in a clear, easy-to-understand way, whether in articles, charts, photographs, or vectors to employees, providers, families, individuals, and other stakeholders
· How to create, get approval and distribute internal and external communications

· Various Publications for External use examples include the Annual Data Report
· ODP Communications (both for external and internal use)
· Create and/or Format Various Forms
· Internal ODP Employee Newsletters
