Fall / Winter Intern, Digital Twin of Connected Cars

Job Summary:

This internship position involves the analyzing and developing of systems for vehicle identification in the context of connectivity. The intern will study vehicle identification methods which span multiple sensing and connected vehicles techniques. The intern will work with a researcher to develop theory and analytical model, and simulate connected vehicles to validate the vehicle identification methods. If time permits, academic publication based on the output of the internship will be considered.


Assist with Digital Twins (Modeling and Analysis) for Connected Vehicles Project:

  • Develop theory and analysis for vehicle identification;

  • Build simulation environment with models of sensing and connected vehicles;

  • Integrate traffic models into simulation environment;

  • Demonstrate vehicle identification methods in the context of connectivity;


  • Currently pursuing a MS or PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or mechanical engineering.

  • Object oriented programming (e.g., C++ or C#) experience is required.

  • Familiarity with the Unity game engine is preferable.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a highly motivated team environment.

  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to deliver on challenging software development tasks.

  • Good planning, time management, decision-making and organizational skills, and ability to manage several tasks at once.

Administrative Details:

  • Part-time (up to 6 months) or full-time (up to 3 months) internship starting in the fall at Toyota ITC's Mountain View, CA office.

  • Applicants *must* already have the ability/authorization to work in the USA (Toyota ITC will NOT provide VISA support).
