VP Engineering

This is an opportunity for a Vice President of Engineering to lead the development of the data management, analytics & reporting platform and help define and expand the engineering organization. You will be responsible for engineering strategy and the architectural road map for the data platform as well as diving into details of the work of the development team. You will work closely with our product management, marketing, sales and client success teams to create development schedules and make recommendations on the use of new and emerging technologies. You will report directly to the CEO and be expected to manage and thrive in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and architect an enterprise-grade data management, analytics & reporting platform for the commercial real estate sector
  • Lead and grow a team of passionate, talented engineers and create a thriving culture
  • Communicate the corporate strategy to the engineering organization to frame their work in the context of the overall mission
  • Define and manage development processes to ensure adherence to best practices
  • Focus on execution and achieving goals while being strategic and creative
  • Manage our release and feature schedules by estimating work efforts and setting engineering deadlines
  • Provide feedback on the technical feasibility of new features to product management and design during the research & design process
  • Quickly grow an engineering team with top talent by inspiring candidates
  • Create interview processes to attract the best candidates
  • Effectively manage and coordinate a distributed team

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role, with a successful track record of owning and delivering enterprise software products
  • Experience and proven success working for small team startups as well as successfully building teams through periods of high growth
  • Experience managing a successful development team including hiring, onboarding, and professional development
  • Experience resolving engineering team resource constraints by assessing priorities against overall company strategy
  • Experience as a lead developer / architect in past projects
  • Experience in developing Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions as well as Data Management solutions (integrations, ETL, data warehousing, APIs)
  • Experience in Python, ReactJS, PHP, Linux, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Git
  • Strong experience in cloud development, specifically with AWS
  • Working knowledge of continuous integration / delivery best practices
  • Experience leading an engineering team using Agile / Scrum best practices
  • Experience working with distributed development teams
