Lead Data Engineer

About Us:

Our client has a fantastic opportunity for you to to help re-architect and develop their next generation product. They are looking to solve industry-wide data management problems by creating a data aggregation, analytics & reporting platform for the Commercial Real Estate industry. This will involve everything from integrating data from complex enterprise resource planning systems and market data, to developing a high quality ETL data pipeline, to diving into databases and tuning them to perform optimally, to investigating real Data Science problems with our huge repository of information to providing secure access through our customer-facing API. Through your leadership and architecture ability, you will be able to lead the creation of the data platform of your dreams.


  • Lead the data engineering team in building the data platform as a product including: data integrations, ETL data processing, data warehouse and platform APIs
  • Develop a data platform architecture strategy to accommodate our growing data sources and supported integrations
  • Go deep on developing our code across our data platform, from ETL to data warehouse & data science to APIs
  • Work with project and product management to define timelines, and strategize on the platform product road map
  • Integrate into a highly-scalable (horizontally and vertically) data storage platform (key to our next generation analytics platform)
  • Own and maintain high quality integrations with a variety of data sources including ERPs and accounting systems
  • Enhance and develop our API for our customers to directly integrate our data into their system architecture so they can connect other apps to us
  • Build an effective ETL process that ensures the highest data quality for our customers
  • Review other data engineer output and provide coaching and guidance on technical best practices
  • Support building engineering and product documentation
  • Collaborate with clients, product management, solutions engineering, implementation, and client success on key requirements
  • Work on developing patents, journal and conference publications


  • 5+ years of experience in a data-related field
  • Expert in SQL, has worked with PostgresSQL, Oracle or Snowflake
  • Expert in Python or at least one other scripting language
  • Expert in developing ETL and data integrations, efficient database schema and data APIs
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, troubleshooting and analytical problem solving skills
  • Able to coordinate contractors and grow our data team as necessary
  • Able to “get things done” in a fast-paced start-up environment
