Through cutting-edge research and innovative campaigns, the SOC advocates for workers, consumers and other constituencies harmed by concentrated corporate power across a wide range of industries, including food service, transportation and logistics, communications, healthcare, manufacturing and more.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Strategic Organizing Center (SOC) is seeking a creative storyteller that will shape strategic digital narratives that make a real difference. In this role, you'll craft compelling content that elevates workers' voices, highlights corporate accountability issues, and propels our movement's core objectives forward, while playing a key role in building community connections and powering our advocacy initiatives through impactful digital content strategies across various digital platforms.

THE WORK:

  • Develop and manage comprehensive social media strategy across all platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Facebook) in alignment with organizational goals and campaigns.
  • Create, curate, and publish high-quality multimedia content including videos, graphics, and written material that effectively communicates our mission and campaigns; Collect and organize relevant digital assets, news clips, and campaign materials for internal communications with staff, allies, and partners.
  • Monitor social media performance, analyze metrics, and provide regular reports on digital campaign effectiveness; Monitor the digital landscape for relevant worker stories, labor news, trends, and conversations related to labor issues and corporate accountability.
  • Develop and execute digital advertising strategies across multiple platforms (Facebook, Google, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, etc.) to reach target audiences effectively.
  • Develop and execute top-tier digital storytelling initiatives that humanize labor issues and connect with diverse audiences.
  • Manage and maintain website content, ensuring information is current, relevant, and optimized for user experience and search engines.
  • Stay current with evolving social media trends, platform algorithm changes, and emerging digital technologies.
  • Coordinate with campaign teams to ensure digital content aligns with broader organizational messaging and priorities; Coordinate with partner social media and content teams to ensure consistent messaging across all digital channels.
  • Manage relationships with digital content vendors, freelancers, and platform representatives as needed; Maintain organized systems for tracking campaign data, contacts, and relationships.
  • Contribute to and/or lead other department-specific or cross-functional initiatives.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Exceptional creative skills with demonstrated experience in multimedia content creation (video, graphics, written content).
  • Advanced proficiency with social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and performance measurement tools.
  • Excellent writing abilities with capacity to craft compelling, concise messaging for different platforms and audiences.
  • Graphic design skills and proficiency with design software (Adobe Creative Suite or similar).
  • Video production and editing experience.
  • Deep understanding of digital storytelling techniques and best practices.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and website content management.
  • Ability to translate complex policy issues into accessible, engaging content.
  • Familiarity with labor union organizing, politics, and corporate accountability campaigns.
  • Attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy, multi-tasking, and time-pressured environment.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, digital media, journalism, or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in social media management and digital content creation, preferably at a labor union or other progressive advocacy organization.

Physical Demands & Working Environment

  • Under current policy, SOC employees spend at least two days per week in-office at our Washington, DC or New York City office locations and may work remotely otherwise.
  • Some travel required.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work required. Weekend and evening monitoring of social media required.
  • The SOC has a mandatory COVID vaccine policy and safety protocols in both our office locations, including a required daily health screening survey for in-office days.

Compensation:

Salary is calculated based on years of experience, with annual increases according to an established salary scale. The salary range for this position is $69,909 - $77,509. This is a full-time exempt position.
