We partner with workers, allies and our affiliates — the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Communication Workers of America (CWA), and the United Farmworkers of America (UFW) — whose 3 million members are united in building a strong, vibrant labor movement through organizing workers hungry for change. Through cutting-edge research and innovative campaigns, the SOC advocates for workers, consumers and other constituencies harmed by concentrated corporate power across a wide range of industries, including food service, transportation and logistics, communications, healthcare, manufacturing and more.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

You will work with a team to help organize and support investor engagement with publicly traded corporations. You’ll research and support corporate governance initiatives that protect worker retirement fund beneficiaries' economic interests in the financial markets. This role contributes to creating an effective voice for corporate accountability by analyzing performance data, evaluating social and governance risk, and supporting shareholder engagement activities.

THE WORK:

  • Conduct comprehensive sustainability, governance, and investment research and analysis utilizing online resources, company filings, and subscription-based databases
  • Analyze data on industries, companies, individual executives, and federal and state policies

Communications and Content Development (25%)

  • Draft public statements, letters, and presentations for external stakeholders
  • Support the team’s social media presence and digital communications
  • Create compelling content that communicates complex financial and governance concepts to diverse audiences

Stakeholder Engagement and Representation (25%)

  • Collaborate with pension fund trustees and staff, institutional shareholders, and the broader investment community
  • Represent the team in internal and external forums, including shareholder meetings, Congressional hearings, and industry conferences
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the corporate governance and investment space

Administrative and Support Functions (10%)

  • Perform additional duties as required to support the team’s operations
  • Assist with project management and coordination of multiple initiatives
  • Support senior staff with various research and administrative tasks

An individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position successfully:
