Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

 
Texas Hydraulics is an industry leader in developing custom hydraulic solutions. Sr. Mechanical Engineers at Texas Hydraulics must have fluent knowledge of mobile hydraulic circuits, and a proven work history of designing hydraulic components. A strong knowledge of Hydraulic Cylinders is key to being successful in this position.

 A Sr. Mechanical Engineer must be able to work independently and have strong communications skills. These skills are essential to maintain project timelines, collaborate with team members and communicate with stake holders.


Job Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop hydraulic cylinders using industry standards and internal specifications
  2. Able to work with team members internally and externally with our customers on new and existing applications.
  3. Possess a strong technical understanding of mobile hydraulics
  4. Working knowledge of materials used in the design of cylinders: carbon steel, hydraulic seals, cartridge valves and wear rings
  5. Review, develop, and prepare project documentation following industry and internal standards
  6. Must have a strong attention to detail to peer review designs and ensure manufacturability
  7. Use Daily Management to ensure projects are delivered on time, issues are resolved by understanding root cause, and countermeasures are effectively implemented
  8. Understands the principles of lean manufacturing (maximize our value to our customers)
  9. Experience with engineering CAD and analysis tools (CREO, ANSYS, Windchill etc.)
  10. Effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and other departments written and orally.
  11. Develop DFMEAs and subsequent Test plans in order to mitigate design risks
  12. Understanding of industry standards (ASTM, ASME, ANSI, ABS, DNV etc…)
  13. Develop engineering sketches, specifications and related data in order to determine design factors such as size, shape and layout of new designs.
  14. Manages new product development projects and timelines.
  15. Ensures projects are kept on time and within budget, identifies potential setbacks to achieving this goal and develops viable solutions
  16. Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality and Finance in order to ensure designs are streamlined for manufacturability through design reviews
  17. Evaluate and approve designs and specification changes through continuous improvement
  18. Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  19. Prepares interim and completion project reports.
  20. Handles material review board responsibilities for product engineering.
  21. Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in related field
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in hydraulic cylinder or system design
  3. Strong ability to effectively communicate written and orally with customers, suppliers, and internally
  4. Demonstrated history of proactive ability to embrace multiple responsibilities simultaneously with minimum guidance
  5. P.E License or Certified Fluid Power Engineer (CFPE) preferred but not required
  6. Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information using engineering best practices and tools

Project Management - Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Manages project team activities.

Business Acumen - Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to scalability; Demonstrates knowledge of software and systems.

Computer Skills- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Development software; Design software; Internet software; Project Management software and Database software.
