Material Handler Lead

Production | Spring City, PA | Full Time

Job Description

Job Summary: Move material within the production facility.   Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock.  Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates daily work activities of material handling team
  • Reviews difficult or complex work procedures to resolve questions presented by material handlers
  • Oversees and participates in counting, weighing and measuring incoming/outgoing material as required.
  • Ensures accurate inventory records of inventory locations at all times; completes necessary forms for documentation
  • Designs and improves inventory location layouts and oversees reorganization process
  • Examines incoming shipments for damages or shortages; fills out appropriate forms to document deficiencies
  • Loads/Unload raw material onto/or from pallets, trays, and shelves to designated areas and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit
  • Gather and move finished product to staging areas and/or secondary operations.
  • Safely and efficiently deliver raw material to various machine shop cells to maximize operator spindle or assembly time.
  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers
  • Stacks or assembles materials into groups and stacks / reorganizes product together.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist or crane
  • Operates forklift, stand-up forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Works with machine shop, hydraulic & electric assemblies and Returns Departments to ensure part shortages are expeditiously communicated and met through Supply Chain.
  • Assist in mounting of hydraulic and electric assemblies as required.


  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of material handler experience.
  • Experience operating a forklift and pallet jack.
  • Good organization and communication skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Able to walk and stand for 10 hours, lift up to 35-50 pounds, visual acuity, bend, reach with hands/arms, push/pull to move product using a pallet jack.
  • Must be able to work in an unair-conditioned shop environment.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work in an unair-conditioned shop environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is normal for manufacturing.
  • Safety shoes and safety glasses are required.
