FULL STACK WEB DEVELOPER to positively impact Small Businesses

Application Development | Overland Park, KS | Full Time

Job Description

About Tekniq

Tekniq provides great I.T. to small and medium businesses (SMB's). We're a firm that SMB's outsource to for things like building excellent database-backed websites.

About the job

Our opening is for a full stack web developer that will be working with a small selection of clients on their projects. So there’s some variety here - every client’s project is different, often in a different industry, and often using different technologies. Working with SMB’s, you’ll make a real and direct impact on the success of our clients, and you’ll interact with them personally. It’s important that you like variety, and want to communicate directly with clients.

While there is a lot of variety, the core of what we do is build websites using PHP and Symfony. All team members work on all three elements of websites: client side, server side, and database (full stack). If you’re more talented in one area than others, that’s alright - you’ll often pair up with others and work together, to share and build skills and move the team forward as a whole.

Our development team uses an Agile process, with a daily scrum. Throughout each week we sprinkle in some storytime, planning poker, backlog grooming, and the occasional sprint demo. Most of your time will be spent at the office, working on code alongside your team in our sort-of-quiet cube environment. Office hours are 8-5. There is some after-hours work, so weeks tend to be a bit longer than 40 hours, but most after-hours work is flexible around family or other commitments.

Salary commensurate with abilities, $50-75k. Tekniq offers competitive (dare we say great?) benefits.
