Overview: 

The Government Sales Representative is accountable for promoting and selling Teknion’s products in a specific region, and maintaining relationships with existing clients in a professional and knowledgeable manner.  This position is responsible for increasing territory sales and market share, strategically increasing visibility to the Architecture/Design Community and end user, as well as supervise the selection and development of dealers or other distribution facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • All sales activities as it relates to achievement of territory sales and profitability objectives, sales forecasting, and business development.

  • Participating in the preparation of annual sales forecasts for the respective territory, participating in the determination of territory market potential and in the preparation of territory sales expense estimates.

  • Identifying business opportunities, developing business relationships with customer base, within the Federal and Provincial Goverment Departments, Agencies and Crown Corportions and closing business opportunities, as well as promoting products to new and existing customers.

  • Identifying business opportunities, developing business relationships with customer base, within the Automotive market (OEMs, Architectural firms - developing dealership standards packages and at the dealership level) and closing business opportunities, as well as promoting products to new and existing customers as well as Architectural firms.

  • Determining, securing, and maintaining new network contacts through appropriate associations, and increasing Teknion’s visibility and presence in the office furniture industry.

  • Mastering the unique procurement process with the Federal amd Provincial Governments and understand how to utilize to maximize sales opportuntiies

  • Mastering the unique development processes within the automotive market and developing an understanding for the creation of Standards programs for this market and the various brands.

  • Working collaboratively with both Teknion and Dealer Sales personnel to increase Teknion sales through new business development, maintenance of existing accounts, and product and process education vis-à-vis presentations.  Developing close relationships with Dealer management ensuring a strong Dealer commitment.

  • Understanding, implementing and supporting Teknion’s corporate programs, (including incentive, inter-market, and new products) policies and procedures.

  • Building business relationships with the Architecture and Design Community within the Civil Service and commercial A&D firms who service the Federal and Provincial Governments, by educating them on Teknion’s products and assisting in navigating the Federal Governments procurement Process.

  • Keeping abreast of industry competitors, market trends, product innovations and market conditions.

  • Provide critical sales information and administrative reports in a timely manner, as well as keeping manager and colleagues abreast of market conditions and trends.

  • Coordinating and managing office and showroom administration with support staff and ensuring showroom products are kept current and in order at all times.

  • Conferring with immediate supervisor, suggesting changes and improvements in design, pricing, or policy.

  • Providing product and administrative training to support colleagues and dealers in the local office.

Requirements:

  • College diploma or University degree

  • Experience selling to the Public Sector an asset

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a sales or marketing representative or in a related occupation

  • Well developed communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

  • Excellent selling skills

  • Good negotiation skills

  • Well developed organizational and decision making capabilities

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously

  • Well developed human relations skills

  • Good team building skills

  • Computer literate

  • Willingness to travel occasionally
