Architect/Principal Engineer (Back-end)

Job Description

As one of our senior architects you will play a key role on our core development team. You will work the entire product lifecycle from concept to post market of products and ad systems that integrate with real-time ad exchanges.  Your success in this role will be based on your strength as an exceptional individual contributor, your ability to collaborate successfully with our CTO and lead engineers, and your ability to drive design and engineering best practices – you lead by example. We are innovating with the latest Java open source technologies and you will have an exceptional opportunity for your work to contribute directly to the success of the company and have a large impact on the internet advertising world. 


  • Design/architect, develop and maintain highly scalable and fault tolerant data driven Java based applications in a full software development life cycle. Your high quality, production ready code will have an immediate impact on the capabilities of the company and its success.
  • Provide technology recommendations for potential product application development.
  • Lead and guide the development of applications following best practices.
  • Gather and analyze requirements from product owners, ensure products meet business requirements.
  • Collaborate with other software engineers and team leads in designing and developing software solutions which meet high quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to new or existing code/systems.
  • Write proper documentation for designs and procedures.
  • Employ and promote engineering best practices, including effective Agile development practices, Test Driven Development, continuous build and deployment, design and code reviews, document design, test plan reviews, deployment reviews, etc.
  • Ensure developed products meet milestones, and effectively communicate status through participation in Agile SDLC.

Desired Qualifications:

  • BA/MS in CS or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 7+ years of professional experience with Java technologies and frameworks.
  • Multi-threaded Java experience involving fault tolerant highly scalable systems.
  • Work experience with modern server side Java technologies, J2EE, Spring IOC, REST, Servlet, Lucene/Solr, Hadoop, noSQL .
  • Experience with RDBMS technologies (MySQL, Oracle). JPA/Hibernate.
  • Experience developing high quality products.
  • Ad Serving Space and Technology desired
