Senior Research Associate– In Vivo Pharmacology

Position Summary:

The Senior Research Associate – In Vivo Pharmacology is involved in many aspects of the nonclinical department’s operations; chiefly the execution of in vivo pharmacology studies. Other responsibilities include performance of general laboratory duties, in vitro techniques, assistance in mentoring and training of staff, and animal husbandry activities. This position reports to the Lab Manager – In Vivo Pharmacology.

Essential Functions:

  • Executes in vivo pharmacology studies in rodents. This includes dosing, assessment of overall health and body weight, and tumor measurements.
  • Works closely with lab leadership and project managers to properly prepare for and execute assigned pharmacology studies.
  • Assists with studies to measure pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in rodents.
  • Identifies and develops tumor models for use in xenograft or syngeneic settings.
  • Maintains thorough documentation of all experiments and generates SOPs to support new experimental methods employed for in vivo studies.
  • Participates in weekly lab meetings; updates department on progress, results, and future studies.
  • Works in a dynamic team environment and assists in technical and new staff training.
  • Maintains detailed laboratory files and documents.
  • Adheres to study protocols.
  • Collects and assesses data.
  • Maintains lab equipment.
  • Performs necropsies and minor surgical procedures.
  • Performs other laboratory duties and assists other labs as assigned/needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related or related field.
  • 10+ years’ of experience In vivo pharmacology in small rodents.
  • Technical expertise using in vivo tumor models and extensive experience with test article administration and biospecimen collection.
  • Extensive experience in rodent handling and procedures especially in cancer pharmacology.
  • Experience in tissue culture techniques and other in vitro pharmacology assays.
  • Experience in general laboratory techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
  • This is a research position that requires working in a laboratory environment with hazardous chemicals.
  • Protective clothing, gloves and safety glasses are required while working in the lab. This position requires the ability to lift containers or instruments (up to 25 pounds) and work standing at a fume hood or lab bench for extended periods.
  • Overtime work required.
