ABOUT THE POSITION

Switchgear Solutions, Inc. is seeking a hard-working General Laborer to support our industrial construction projects in the shop and field. This person will perform a variety of construction-related manual labor tasks. Travel to customers in the Western US will be essential for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensuring site is safe for workers and visitors and company health & safety policies are being followed.
• Reviewing the quality of all factors involved on site and address problems.
• Managing the day to day operations and short term schedule of a job.
• Ensuring the specified materials are delivered on site and accounted for.
• Communicate with clearly and effectively with team - providing direction, project updates and address concerns.
• Train new and existing laborers to the particular tasks involved in heavy industrial construction work.
• Help laborers with other duties as needed including, but not limited to...
  • Preparing construction sites.
  • Loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Removing debris, garbage, and dangerous materials from sites.
  • Assembling and breaking down barricades, temporary structures, etc.
  • Transport and operate of heavy machinery and equipment used in construction sites.
  • Digging and backfilling trenches.

EXPERIENCE

• Experience level should be a Supervisory Level specifically in construction
• Knowledge of Civil, Mechanical, and Structural Construction and everything that entails.
• Experience effectively leading a construction team from planning to job completion.
• Heavy Industrial Construction experience required.
• High school diploma or Associates is preferred.
• Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
• Communicates effectively
• Works well independently and with a team.
• Knows construction math skills, including how to convert quantities and take measurements
• Driving to jobs is a regular function of this role.
• Must be willing to confidently submit to the background and drug screening process.
