We’re looking for fun, creative, energetic, mature individuals to work with high school students at our pre-college programs in the United States:
Summerfuel at Berkeley:
June 25 - July 28, 2013
Summerfuel Resident Advisors (RAs) spend the summer living on campus, working as a mentor to high school students from the United States and abroad. RAs are responsible for the safety and well-being of their students. All RAs live in residence with their students and are directly responsible for a group of approximately ten.
RAs directly supervise student conduct, discipline, health and safety. Varied responsibilities include: managing hall dynamics to ensure a positive residence environment, establishing effective communications with students, leading activities and trips during the extracurricular portion of the program and serving as a student information resource. RAs lead extracurricular programming such as: athletics, film screenings, talent shows, dances, and more.
Summerfuel at UMass offers students an opportunity to sample a variety of different academic disciplines. Students participate in courses and workshops covering a range of topics, including writing, law, business, astronomy, film, marketing and more. On the weekends, Summerfuel organizes excursions and activities in and around the Pioneer Valley, including a trip to Boston, Six Flags Great Adventure and Northampton. Summerfuel students and staff live in the state of the art North Apartment Suites, centrally located on UMass-Amherst’s campus.
• Minimum age 21 by June of program year
• Must have completed at least three years of college including at least one year in residence
• Residence life employment and/or experience working with adolescents preferred
$1,400 salary, room & board, plus partial travel stipend
