The Role

We are looking for an experienced leader to take the helm of our product management and design teams and inspire them to create amazing products that drive our business.  As the VP of Product Management, your team is at the center of Stellar, working collaboratively and cross-functionally both internally and directly with our customers.  This individual will partner closely with engineering to set the strategic direction for the product development team and co-own the processes we use to build amazing products.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Inspire, lead and grow a world-class product management organization.

  • Develop our product vision in partnership with the CEO and senior leadership team.

  • Be a champion for the product vision, both internally and externally.

  • Understand the market: develop expertise in the business aviation industry and ecosystem, especially with regard to how the industry uses various flight operations systems.

  • Know the customer: develop deep and trusted relationships with key customers leveraging knowledge of their business requirements to direct product strategy and prioritization.

  • Partner with the head of Engineering to execute the product strategy that can achieve the vision.  

  • Develop the product team’s ability to execute consistently, rapidly, and effectively.

  • Lead at an expert-level on Agile product planning and development processes.

  • Create a strong, motivated product culture where the team understands the importance of continuous and rapid testing and learning.

  • Develop channels, processes and tools to continuously funnel customer feedback into the product development process to improve our products.

  • Report key product engagement metrics to stakeholders.

  • Evangelize Stellar in the tech community.

 

Who We're Looking For

  • Manage a complex product that is both broad and deep.

  • You have a proven track record of developing strong teams of product owners and designers, and have the skills for developing great people along with the skills for developing great products.

  • You know how to get things done and have proven your ability to do so. 

  • You are comfortable speaking in public forums, industry conferences, and boardrooms.

  • You establish credibility and rapport with engineers, customers, senior executives and team members

  • You thrive in the fast-paced, ambiguous environment of an early start-up, and are capable of bringing order to chaos in a way that creates value.

  • Ability to help the team to stay focused, strong sense in noise-signal separation

  • You have strong track record in owning and executing product strategy through the entire product life cycle from inception, go-to-market to sunset

 

Your Background

  • 5+ years as a Senior Director or VP of Product Management leading high performing Product Management teams

  • Solid hands-on experience and desire to continue to build user stories and work closely with development teams and user experience teams (we are a startup and everyone is hands-on) 

  • Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills that can address the needs of Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success

  • Experience with modern development methodologies (Agile, Kanban, XP, etc.)

  • Demonstrated technical project management skills

  • Experience managing distributed teams

  • Prior experience in an enterprise-class SaaS startup

  • Aviation experience a huge plus
