Data Engineer

What you’ll do: 

You will be part of a talented Dev-Ops team that is responsible for designing and developing cloud based data solutions utilizing best-of-breed open source tools and data technologies. You will also participate in defining the next generation of standards, best practices and certification processes for data objects throughout the organization.

What you’ll bring to the position: 

  • Minimum 5 years experience working with data in various capacities. 

  • Solid knowledge of SQL, 

  • Understanding of ETL and Dimensional Modeling. 

  • Strong Understanding of RDBMS data architectures 

  • Understanding of NOSQL data architectures 

  • Experience with one or more RDMS environment (SQL Server, MySQL, etc…) 

  • Experience with one or more NOSQL environments (Hadoop/Spark, ElasticSearch, etc…) 

  • Experience developing data programs (Map Reduce, ETL functions, etc…) using an object oriented language such as Java or Python. 

  • Experience coding and/or interpreting R for distributed processing. 

  • Excellent in understanding the data life cycle, able to reverse engineer and augment. 

  • Thorough understanding of Dev-Ops and he/she will be a part of it. 

  • Strong track record of creating stored procedures, functions or ad-hoc queries. 

  • Should be a self-starter, who can accelerate with minimum supervision. 

  • Enthusiasm for Open Source technologies 

  • Experience with Docker and containers 

  • Experience with Linux and shell scripting 

  • A proven track record of designing, developing, and supporting high performance/available solutions in a professional data engineering role. 

  • Desire to work utilizing the latest data technologies available 

  • Ability to solve open-ended problems in an elegant, scalable manner. 

  • Excellent knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and data processing 

  • Ability to prototype creative solutions quickly, and be able to take a project from prototype to production quality. 

  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

What we’d also like to see, but not required: 

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, RDS, SES, SNS,SQS, Lambda, etc.) a big plus 

  • Experience with machine learning 

  • Experience with data visualization tools 

  • Experience managing data system clusters 

  • Experience with System Management solutions (Puppet, Ansible, etc…)
