POSITION:             Production Planner Intern  

LOCATION:            Blackfoot, Idaho

JOB SUMMARY:

The Production Control department is a central hub whose primary function is to relay information between the Engineering, Sales, Production, and Service departments.  The Production Planner Intern is responsible to analyze current and forecast orders to prioritize, plan, and schedule production operations to meet customer needs.  Intern tasks may include improving material flow, line balancing, and operational efficiency. A Production Planner Intern will collect and monitor labor, material usage, and equipment run time data, as well as evaluate, refine, and implement the tools and processes to do so.  Quality of workmanship, attention to detail, and self-motivation are critical assets for this position. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  • Monitor and report on actual (labor and material) data using Syteline ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) database in conjunction with Factory Track automation;
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to develop the production plan and monitor its execution through SDI (Spudnik Digital Implements) database and the Production Dashboard tool;
  • Assess Work Center capacities and facilitate scheduled release of manufacturing jobs to optimize accordingly while meeting customer requirements;
  • Plan inventory management processes to avoid shortages and overstock.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current enrolment in or completion of Bachelor of Science program in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline;
  • Knowledge of relational database systems and management is preferred;
  • Experience with statistical methods and process controls;
  • Ability to work with ERP systems, CAD, spreadsheets, word processing documents, and other applicable computer systems and software;
  • Knowledge of processes, equipment, parts, systems, tools, and machinery required in production and fabrication;
  • Experience reading instructional drawings and schematics;
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines;
  • Excellent troubleshooting, critical thinking, and analytical skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

MACHINES TYPICALLY OPERATED:

  • Basic clerical machines including computer, printer, adding machine, multi line telephone system, fax machine, postal machine, etc.;
  • Other machines or equipment specific to departmental or facility needs.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

TYPICAL ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • The worker is primarily subject to inside environmental conditions and an office setting.  Occasionally, there will be exposure to manufacturing and production environments in which there is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes; sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level; fumes, odors, dust mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
