POSITION:                Service and Repair Journeyman Electrician Technician

LOCATION:              Blackfoot, ID


Service and Repair Technician is responsible for performing field and in-house service and repair work for customers, the installation and setup of new machines, and ensuring customer satisfaction by performing high quality service work in a timely manner.  Technician is also responsible for the accuracy of parts inventory and all manual and electronic records required for inventory purposes.  Additionally, Technician will maintain accurate records for time keeping, billable hours, indirect labor, and quality improvement efforts.  Technician will be available for overtime and shift work when necessary to meet the needs of the Service and Repair schedule.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Assist with company efforts to provide proper electrical safety training; Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects; Testing electrical systems to ensure safety of system and compliance with codes; Diagnose malfunctioning systems or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Communicate to management and supervisor any electrical issues relating to non-compliance or potential safety or hazard risks; Customize equipment by rebuilding, fabricating, and assembling of additional electrical components based on customer orders; Travel to and from customer locations to perform service work as directed; Communicate material needs to appropriate sources using the proper procedures; Keep and maintain accurate records of billable hours, miles traveled, materials and supplies used, and other records required by department manager; Perform inspection, testing, and troubleshooting during assembly and make necessary adjustments to ensure correct operation of machine while maintaining quality standards;

Work in a cooperative and respectful manner with all internal and external customers; Set-up and perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment; Work in a team environment with little or no supervision; Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment including shop, truck, and office areas; Promote the company’s core values; integrity, respect, commitment, quality, innovation.


Must hold a current and valid journeyman electrician license; Be able to work from and understand verbal instructions; Ability to read and understand electrical schematics; Excellent customer relations skills; Ability to operate lift trucks, pickups, and large trucks; Ability to learn and communicate well with others; Proficiency in basic shop math. Ability to obtain and maintain valid Class A Commercial driver’s license, DOT medical card, and insurability under Spudnik’s automotive insurance policy;


Computers, telephones, cell phone, copiers, fax, calculator, two-way radio, vehicle, amp and volt meter, drills, PLC, frequency drives and power hand tools. Technician will be required to provide their own basic hand tools necessary for service and shop work needs.

The worker is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.  There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.  The environment includes a variety of physical conditions such a proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and working on scaffolding or other high places. The employee may be exposed to one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust mists, gases or poor ventilation. There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
