POSITION:                Assistant Controller

LOCATION:                 Blackfoot, Idaho


The Controller will be primarily responsible for preparing the monthly and annual financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP, analyzing financial results, researching tax and accounting standards, and ensuring a successful audit. The Controller will also be responsible for the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Teamwork and customer service skills are vitally important as the Controller works directly and indirectly with customers, vendors, employees, supervisors and managers. The Controller will consistently demonstrate a high level of responsibility, integrity, and accountability, working in the most effective and efficient manner possible on assigned tasks.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. 

  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports;
  • Analyze and present financial results to different levels of the organization;
  • Coordinate all activities of annual audit;
  • Prepare the annual budget;
  • Ensure the monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts;
  • Oversee and ensure the accuracy of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions;
  • Construct and monitor internal controls;
  • Manage cash balances and prepare cash forecasts as needed;
  • Prepare cost accounting models and gross margin analysis;
  • Develop personnel through use of hiring, training, performance management, coaching,
  • disciplinary actions, terminations, and similar personnel management activities;
  • Assist all other functions of the Finance department.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or related degree) or six years of equivalent experience;
  • Five years’ minimum supervisory experience;
  • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office products;
  • Experience with ERP systems helpful, but not required;
  • Results-oriented, curious, cooperative nature with a willingness to learn and a positive
  • attitude;
  • Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, critical thinking, and analytical skills;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Experience with VBA or SQL helpful, but not required;
  • Familiarity with agriculture helpful, but not required.


  • Basic clerical machines including computer, printer, adding machine, multiline telephone system, fax machine, postal machine, etc.;
  • Other machines or equipment specific to departmental or facility needs.

Subject to inside office environment protected from weather conditions. Activities occur inside the office with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. There is not substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. May be exposed to outdoor temperatures for a minimal time, minimal exposure to loud noises.
