POSITION:               Burn Table Operator

LOCATION:             Blackfoot, Idaho


The Burn Table Operator is responsible for cutting metal sheet and plate material of various sizes and thicknesses through the use of CNC laser and plasma machines. The Operator will be responsible for selecting proper cutting programs and setting exact parameters per job order documentation. Operators will be responsible for monitoring cutting performance and will make adjustments as necessary to ensure the machine is performing optimally. The Operator will complete final inspections of parts, components, and bill of materials prior to releasing to downline customers to ensure correct quantities and the highest quality product is being delivered. Operators will be available for fluctuating shifts and overtime where appropriate in order to respond to production needs.  Operators will demonstrate a high level of responsibility and accountability in accordance with machine performance, manufactured parts, job orders and build schedules while working effectively and efficiently.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  • Safely and efficiently operate CNC machinery to produce metal parts per job order in accordance with the timelines identified in the build plan;
  • Understand operating instructions and maintain operator level knowledge required for the safe and efficient use of the machinery;
  • Perform basic routine preventative maintenance on CNC machinery to ensure highest levels of production and quality are achieved;
  • Accurately interpret blueprints and job documentation in order to adjust machine parameters per work order;
  • Inspect parts, both visually and technically (dimensional inspection), to ensure accuracy and quality standards have been met;
  • Utilize proper loading/unloading procedures when moving material on and off the burn table for cutting; 
  • Become a technical expert for parts fabricated and be top performer in workmanship, safety, and work ethics;
  • Understand parts usage, correct parts flow, and proper organization/staging of parts between product lines;
  • Keep and maintain accurate production records using timesheets and other methods identified by Supervisor;
  • Actively work with internal and external customers to identify and resolve problems.

The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions typical of a manufacturing environment.  There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.  The environment includes a variety of physical conditions such a proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and working on scaffolding or other high places. The employee may be exposed to one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust mists, gases or poor ventilation. There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.

PAY:   Depending on Experience (starts at $13.00/hr.)
