About this Opportunity


We are growing our engineering leadership team to further ramp our product velocity, enhance the serving and building up of our developers, and continue to refine our technical practices and engineering culture. This role, Software Development Manager Web Application, will report to the Director of Engineering, be hands-on in writing code, lead scrum teams, and continuously champion best practices, continuous integration, automation, and coding standards.


What you'll do:

  • Direct management of a set of engineers with opportunities to grow
  • Support a management structure that focuses on minimal politics, high levels of delegation, and autonomy (Note: All managers were engineers at one point)

  • Own an area of code and set architectural direction, having an impact on Spokeo’s products and its millions of visitors

  • Shape our development process and code quality (We release every two weeks and are looking towards continuous deployment)

  • Work with technologies such as Ruby on Rails, React, Node.js, CSS, Rspec, Elasticsearch, and SQL


Skills you'll have:

  • A Bachelor’s in Computer Science or a similar degree required
  • 1+ years managing web application development teams that deliver SAAS or cloud-based offerings for consumers.
  • 1+ years of guiding scrum-based teams delivering at-scale products and working with big data sets.
  • 5+ years of full-stack development experience (i.e. HTML, CSS, Javascript/React, Node.js, MVC/Rails, MySQL, NoSQL, RESTful APIs).
  • Passion for and experience with building collaborative teams and high-quality software
  • A team-first leadership style
  • Excellent project management and communication skills
