Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), Web Applications

Spokeo's QA team is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), Web Applications to join us. You will define, review, and execute test protocols in this role. You will also provide frontline support for identifying and debugging software defects. The ideal candidate will also investigate complex issues and supply analysis, potentially including fix recommendations.

What you'll do - This includes an estimate of where time will be spent. This is subject to change:

  • 40% - Design, develop and execute automated unit tests, integration tests, performance tests, user-acceptance tests, black and white-box test cases, and report results.

  • 20% - Maintain regression test code and Investigate incoming bug reports by reproducing issues and investigating logs.

  • 15% - Gather and document test plans, test cases, defect capture, maintain test data, and monitor test performance over time.

  • 15% - Support and resolve test automation failures in CI/D pipeline releases across test environments/infrastructure on Amazon Web Service.

  • 10% - Work collaboratively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or related field (preferred), and/or four years of software development experience and deep knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals and software development best practices. (or a Master's degree and two years of experience).

  • Robust Web testing and automation skills, working knowledge of Webdriver, working knowledge, and familiarity with the following test frameworks, Rspec or Cypress/Playwright. (Javascript/Cypress is required).

  • Experience with API testing and familiarity with one or more performance testing tools, such as Locust, Siege, JMeter, or Gatling.

  • Work experience with one of the following programming languages, Javascript/Typescript, Ruby, Python, and Java.

  • In-Depth infrastructure knowledge with cloud technologies, Amazon Web Services preferred.

  • Familiarity with SQL.

  • Strong Linux background.

  • In-Depth QA Methodologies.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.

  • Must possess excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Be highly self-motivated and ready to learn new concepts and technologies.

  • Have strong interpersonal skills, writing, and communication skills, as well as a dedication to software quality.
