POSITION:                                            Advocate/Volunteer Coordinator (Part-Time-Up to 24 hours per week)

                                                              STTARS Program

 

PAY GRADE:                                         12

 

WAGE:                                                   $16.93/hr. (Opportunity for advancement with the agency)

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides advocacy to survivors of sexual violence regarding the legal and medical system as well as information and referral services as needed.   Implements the day-to-day operation of the volunteer component of the Sexual Assault Department, including recruitment, screening, scheduling and monitoring of volunteers and volunteer services.
  • Coordinates the integrated volunteer component of the Sexual Assault Program covering Washington and Greene Counties.
  • Develop, schedule and facilitate training for volunteers and new staff, which comply with established program standards, coordinate volunteer in-service meetings, track and document ongoing volunteer training.
  • Acts as liaison between the volunteers, community programs, and Program Supervisor.
  • Answer hotline calls and respond to medical advocacy calls and provide support and information and referral to survivors and significant others.
  • Provides legal advocacy coverage as needed.
  • Attends community events to recruit volunteers and conduct outreach to area residents
  • Prepares and submits all required program documentation and correspondence in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Adheres to all policies, laws, regulations and codes of ethics and confidentiality as outlined by federal and state laws, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Provides program and referral information about the Crime Victim’s Compensation Program to each service recipient.  
  • Assists with provision of outreach and prevention programming throughout the service community to help survivors gain knowledge of and access to services.

QUALIFICATIONS:              

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education or related Human Services field required, work experience related directly to the education and community development desirable.
  • Must successfully obtain Criminal History Clearance from the Pennsylvania State Police, Child Abuse Clearance from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, and FBI Clearances.
  • Must not be excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal health care program.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, program staff and other community social services agencies.
  • Ability to transport oneself in an insured vehicle, as program needs dictate.
  • Ability to understand and follow supervisory direction.
  • Ability to work independently following established policies and procedures, including emergency situations.
