SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ALCOHOL AND DRUG PROGRAM

Southern California Alcohol and Drug Programs, Inc. (SCADP) was established in 1972 in a grassroots effort by community members seeking alternatives to prison for individuals with substance use disorder (SUD). SCADP is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization providing residential treatment services and outpatient counseling services to individuals throughout Los Angeles. Offering services with a continuum of care to underserved and disadvantaged populations.


ANGEL STEP INN

Angel Step Inn is a safe, confidential home for victims of domestic violence, who may or may not have a history of consuming alcohol and/or drugs. We assist all victims of intimate partner violence regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability, with or without children.


JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

The Domestic Violence Therapist works as part of a team providing emergency supportive counseling, support groups, and social services to adult, adolescent, and child survivors of domestic violence.  The Domestic Violence Therapist is responsible for providing counseling services to residential clients. This position is a mandated reporter for child abuse, as set forth in California Penal Code Section 11165.7.  The Therapist will also provide advocacy, support and information to survivors navigating community agencies and systems to help reduce the impact of violence in their lives.  


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct assessment interviews and develop comprehensive treatment plans with clients, update plans throughout counselling relationship.
    • Provide crisis intervention as indicated
    • Provide early interventions and referrals to speciality mental health services as needed
  • Provide individual and group therapy to adult, adolescent and child survivors of domestic violence to further treatment plans.
  • Maintain clinical documentation and ensure documentation is up-to-date and reflective of services provided; provide data to meet funder reporting and productivity requirements, Adhere to clinical standards and HIPPA, close files as clients depart shelter.
  • Attend weekly case management meetings with Angel Step Inn staff to monitor client progress, while adhering to confidentiality requirements to only share client information within the organization when it meets the needs of the client.
  • Seek professional development, maintain licensure with BBS, participate in In-Service training.
  • Other duties as may be required to achieve program goals.


Qualifications


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a background check.

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree in behavioral science field from Accredited University.
  • Active LMFT or LCSW with BBS.
  • 40-hour domestic violence certificate.


EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in counseling field related to domestic violence.


KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of the principles of crisis counseling and counseling victims of domestic violence.
  • Knowledge of HIPPA and other confidentiality requirements.
  • Knowledge of DSM-V mental health disorders.


 TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office suite, including: MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel; knowledge of database entry and use.  


SKILLS and ABILITIES.

  • Strong communication skills, including written and spoken English.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks with good problem-solving skills.
  • Able to provide evening and weekend hours.
  • Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflict, including dealing with un-cooperative clients.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, with or without reasonable accommodation, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
