Design Marketing Manager

Marketing | Hybrid in Santa Rosa, CA | Full Time | From $68,000 to $75,000 per year

Job Description

Sonoma County Tourism is seeking a creative and out-of-the-box thinker for a newly developed position of Design and Marketing Manager (DMM). In this role, the selected individual can showcase their design skills through various digital and print projects and work with the award-winning Marketing team to develop new programs and elevate existing initiatives. As marketing sits central to the organization, the DMM also liaises with key staff across the organization to ensure creative consistency and a high level of internal service. Leveraging our brand as the guiding principle, the DMM works with internal and external peers to create compelling creative, cutting-edge visuals and promotions that drive interest in and visitation to Sonoma County.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Design

· Manage SCT’s design efforts supporting all departments within SCT (Marketing, Communications, Business Development and Community Engagement)

· Lead the design and development of creative assets for print materials, events, and branded merchandise including SCT’s Visitor’s Guide and Map.

· Maintain and evolve SCT’s visual identity across all channels, ensuring brand consistency and innovation.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for internal creative requests; manage project submissions, prioritization, and processes.

· Work with and support the digital team (vendors and staff) to ensure the website has appropriate creative and content that is reflective of current themes such as campaigns, seasons, and other promotions.

· Work with the Content and Social Media Manager to ensure content visuals on the website are current and SEO optimized.

· Collaborate with colleagues across the organization, with the Marketing Committee and community members, to develop visuals and collateral to support various promotions.

Marketing and Brand

· Create, implement, and manage SCT’s merchandise program.

· Create promotions based on organizational strategies and goals.

· Manage sponsorship and partnership agreements that work to promote Sonoma County to targeted audiences.

· Collaborate with the VP of Marketing & Brand to develop targeted marketing programs and ensure brand consistency across all vertical markets and related channels.

· Work with the data team to understand key metrics and industry trends to best inform future marketing and promotional activities.

· Manage ongoing audience development and segmentation

· Identify co-op marketing programs and work with SCT partners to ensure successful outcomes.

· Leverage and grow opportunities relating to revenue such as the evolution of a merchandise program and monetization program.

· Maintain brand guidelines and provide training/resources for internal and external stakeholders as needed.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

· Budget management and oversight of sponsorship marketing and promotional line items.

· Create and administer requests for proposals/qualifications/information to secure the best vendors.

· Frequent interaction with local tourism and hospitality industry partners. The DMM must enjoy collaborating with others to craft programs and integrate initiatives with partner organizations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

· This position has budgetary oversight

· No direct reports at this time

Required Education and/or Experience

· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Design, Communications, Business, Tourism, or related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

· Print & Digital Design

· Photoshop/InDesign

· Creative development

· Loyalty Program experience

· Brand management

· Oversight of staff and vendors relating directly to marketing functions

· MS Office Suite

Physical Requirements

· Frequently sits, stands, and walks. Occasionally twists/turns, bends, kneels, and reaches overhead.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • This job primarily operates in a professional office environment
  • Sonoma County Tourism operates on a hybrid work schedule, with employees in the office three days a week and working from home two days a week.
  • Occasional domestic travel required
  • Must have valid driver’s license and provide own transportation
