Scope:

The Senior Operations Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for the day-to-day execution and overall performance of the Louisville Distribution Center. This position provides hands-on leadership across all aspects of warehouse operations, including inventory control, labor planning, and continuous improvement initiatives, with full accountability for results related to safety, service, cost, productivity, inventory accuracy, and employee engagement. This role is best suited for a proven operations leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-volume environments, leads from the floor, and is comfortable making real-time decisions under pressure. Success requires strong leadership presence, disciplined execution, and the ability to set clear expectations, hold teams accountable, and develop front-line leaders. As a key operational leader, the Senior Operations Manager works collaboratively with cross-functional partners to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, customer expectations, and enterprise-wide initiatives, while fostering a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for all operations at the Louisville Distribution Center, including inbound, outbound, inventory control, labor planning, and peak execution
  • Own operational performance across safety, service, cost, productivity, inventory accuracy, and employee engagement, ensuring customer commitments and internal targets are consistently met
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers and supervisors through clear expectations, regular feedback, performance management, and succession planning to build a strong and sustainable leadership bench
  • Own labor planning and workforce strategy, including staffing models, shift structures, overtime management, and oversight of a large temporary workforce during peak season
  • Develop, monitor, and drive key performance indicators (KPIs), including cost per unit, productivity, order accuracy, and service levels, using data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Analyze operational and financial data to control costs, improve efficiency, and deliver measurable, sustainable performance improvements aligned with business objectives
  • Own short- and long-term capacity planning to ensure labor, space, equipment, and systems are aligned with forecasted volume, customer requirements, and peak demand
  • Ensure strong inventory control and accuracy through disciplined execution of cycle counts, reconciliation, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Proactively identify operational risks and constraints, develop mitigation plans, and escalate issues with recommended solutions when service, safety, or financial targets may be impacted
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating workflows, standard work, labor utilization, and system performance to increase throughput and operational efficiency
  • Ensure disciplined use of warehouse management systems (WMS) and accurate operational reporting to support performance management, decision-making, and customer requirements
  • Serve as a key liaison between operations, customers, suppliers, and internal business partners, collaborating on special initiatives, schedule adjustments, and evolving business needs
  • Present operational performance, risks, and improvement plans clearly and concisely to senior leadership to support informed decision-making
  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety, accountability, and compliance with all company policies, SOPs, and federal, state, and local regulations
  • Lead the operation by setting clear priorities, reallocating resources as needed, and ensuring teams remain focused, engaged, and execution driven

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of management-level experience in an automated distribution environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and progressive operations leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing both inbound and outbound warehouse operations
  • Proven success leading teams through peak season and high-pressure shipping windows
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing labor, productivity, and operating costs
  • Ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and drive measurable improvement
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly and confidently with both internal teams and external partners
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a results-driven, team-oriented environment through collaboration and accountability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); ability to leverage technology to improve reporting and decision-making
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on leadership environment with shifting priorities, changing volumes, and evolving customer requirements

Must be fully available during the holiday period from October through December; (including Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving). Candidates that are unavailable during these periods will not be considered, as this is a company-wide blackout policy.
