The role:

It is an exciting time to join the engineering team at Sojern.  Business is booming and the opportunities for engineering to make a huge impact to our business are ever growing.  With a plethora of major initiatives and an aggressive plan to practically double the engineering team within a year, we’re in search of a Director of Engineering to help us grow and make our company vision a reality.  

We’re looking for a Director of Engineering who can leverage their prior Ad Tech experience and take on and lead large projects, from inception to completion.  In addition to contributing technically throughout the project, the Director of Engineering will also be responsible for: working with product to refine product requirements, managing/coordinating the software development efforts, and interfacing with stakeholders throughout the company.  Large engineering projects revolve around extending Sojern’s core capabilities in new dimensions, e.g., additional inventory channels, so prior knowledge and leadership experience are crucial.


Your day-to-day:

  • Project Conception/Refinement -- Work alongside our product team to conceive, refine, and plan for new functionality/products that enhance Sojern’s products/value

  • Project Management -- Shepherd projects throughout their phases, manage resources, plan out delivery, expose and mitigate risks

  • Promote/Foster Innovation -- Identify ways our modeling, processes, interactions can be improved and work with the team to propose and implement solutions

  • Represent Engineering -- Work alongside our product team to conceive and bring to life new functionality/products that impact Sojern’s performance and value.  Represent the engineering team throughout Sojern.



  • Engineering Management Experience -- 7+yrs of managing/growing eng teams

  • Project Management Experience

    • 10+yrs of leading software projects end-to-end

    • Experience managing complex projects in JIRA

  • Communication Ability

    • Experience/comfort in presenting abstract concepts

    • Experience in liaising with other teams/leadership

  • Ad Tech Experience --  5+ years of experience within the Ad Tech ecosystem, e.g., experience on FB, RTB, SEM, cross-channel attribution, cross-device graphs, budgeting/pacing/bidding, optimization

  • Development Proficiency -- Extensive hands on experience in the following:

    • Python - We use Python extensively across our backend

    • Go - Knowledge of one of Go/Java/C++ - Our real time systems are all written in Go

    • Git - We use Git + Gerrit extensively as our DVCS and Code Review tool

  • MS or PhD in CS or CS/EE -- Ability to transform concepts into practical solutions


Nice to Haves

  • Machine Learning experience -- Successful implementation of ML solutions

  • Google Cloud Platform/AWS -- experience running production systems on Google Cloud/AWS - all of our production workloads run on Kubernetes on Google Cloud
