You:

  • Keep on top of the latest research, papers, contests, systems and their practical application.

  • Have proven experience shipping ML software, or insatiable desire to do so!

  • The ability to express your ideas, absorb other people's, influence the team, and grow.

  • Are an algo fiend and know the best player is the one that makes everyone better.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, tune, own the core data mining prediction systems the give the conversion probabilities that drive performance.

  • Apply domain expertise to find latent features within our data sets.

  • Apply multiple techniques to optimize performance: logistic regression, stochastic gradient descent, decision trees...

  • Optimizing our bidding systems to maximize budget spend and minimize cost.

  • Understand the high level technical / functional specifications and convert into design and detailed low level technical design specification.

  • Ability to work independently, learn from and mentor other team members.

Required Skills:

  • 3+ years practical application of ML tools and techniques.

  • 3+ years production experience in one of:  Python, R, Java, Scala.

  • 3+ years production experience with one of MapReduce/Hive/Pig on hadoop.

  • Practical experience implementing sampling techniques.

  • Proficiency/experience integrating ML systems into production linear and distributed pipelines.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of advertising technologies, techniques, pitfalls (pratfalls), opportunities

  • Practical experience applying predictive modeling in an online digital marketing system

Education:

  • BS/MS/PhD CS, Math, Physics, OR, or practical equivalent
