Social Media Content Specialist

General Summary:

The Social Media Content Specialist role is responsible for the ongoing management and curation of content our Strategic Account Managers use to syndicate to our clients’ social media sites.  Our SMCS will research content sites, including automotive manufacturer sites to find incentives, specials, rebates and other types of content our team can use when posting online.  We look for individuals interested in the marketing/advertising field, who can create engaging content (including the art work that goes along with the campaign) that gets a community talking about a particular brand.

Key Accountabilities:

Collaborate with Strategic Account Managers to curate automotive content for the team to use in their posting strategies. You will assist the Strategic Account Managers in creating a content strategy and the execution of the campaigns.

Responsible for developing content across owned and earned social channels. This could include blog posts, tweets, status updates, pins, photos and videos.

Leverages measurement tools to provide progress reports and mine insights, while continually finding ways to improve on those metrics through testing and new initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge and real-world experience in planning, managing and executing social media initiatives

  • Real-word experience planning social media programs that span owned (eg Blogs) and earned (eg Facebook)

  • Knowledge of Digital Marketing current best practices and understanding of Digital production processes

  • Has working knowledge of Photoshop and experience in graphic design (logos, ad creation, etc)

  • Has working knowledge/intermediate skill levels in using Microsoft Excel


  • Experience writing, editing and crafting content for the social media space

  • Experience with social media platforms, including, but not limited to Facebook, foursquare, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, Google+ and Path

  • Experience with leveraging social media management and analytics tools

  • Experience with automotive content a plus

  • Graphic design a plus

  • Content editing/proof reading a plus


  • This is a part-time opportunity, no more than 30 hours per week

  • Hourly pay between $10 - $14 per hour

  • Hours are flexible

  • Must be able to work in our Chicago office

  • Strategic Account Manager positions, when available, will be offered to SMCSs first
