Position Summary:

Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and integration of the corporate WAN, LAN.  This individual will also be responsible for implementation and administration of network security hardware and software, enforcing the network security policy and complying with requirements of external security audits and recommendations.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Switching, routing, and security architecture and deployment
  • Equipment selection, procurement, and configuration
  • Performance and availability guarantees (if the above are owned by me)
  • Application owners should describe their requirements in terms of security/accessibility, performance, and capacity that they’ll need of the network
  • Remote site/WAN connectivity, VPN connectivity
  • Ensure new network designs are validated in a network QA/Testing environments
  • Monitoring and response escalation (cross train, documentation)

Linux/Open Systems

  • Input into operating system selection and criteria
  • Security and authentication configurations for Linux systems/grids/clusters
  • Provisioning and automation (Kickstart, Foreman, Puppet)
  • Exim/DLP development and deployment
  • Packaging and installers
  • General architecture input for general purpose Linux hosts


  • Provide input to general security practices
  • Ensure network and systems have secure remote logging destination and auditing
  • Validate business needs against security considerations
  • Ensure application owners have proven/demonstrated security due diligence in application selection, configuration, and deployment
  • Spread security goals.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Expert knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Advanced knowledge of systems security practices
  • Expert technical troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of C#/.NET programming and applications
  • 7+ years of network and server administration in an enterprise / hosting environment
  • Experience working with newer Microsoft server technologies including: Server 2008, Hyper-V, System Center, Active Directory, Exchange 2007/2010, and SQL 2008
  • Experience working with virtualization technology including VMWare and Hyper-V

  • Ability to perform high quality work to manage multiple critical projects
  • Ability to work on a team or independently on projects as required
