The Position

Shoes.com is seeking a Merchandise Planner who will be responsible for building and analyzing inventory and open-to-buy plans on a brand and category level. The Merchandise Planner will analyze internal and competitive market pricing data, making decisions that will help increase sales, profit and market share while ensuring alignment of company financial objectives. This role will report to the Director of Merchandise Planning & Operations, and will work closely with the Merchandising and Marketplaces teams. 

Upon coming on board, you can expect to:

  • Build and maintain company open to buy, by brand and category, by partnering and making recommendations to the Merchandising team to achieve category objectives
  • Support the forecast and open-to-buy meetings with data and analysis
  • Assist in creating the framework for pre-season, in-season, semi-annual, monthly & weekly business financial plans & forecasts that adhere to strategic & financial objectives
  • Oversee the margin relationship between wholesale cost and retail prices for all brands and styles within the category
  • Work with the vendor community and Merchandising team to ensure timely collection and data entry of all pricing related information, to meet both top line and margin targets while remaining compliant with all applicable policies
  • Work closely with the Marketplaces team, providing data and recommendations on various programs and promotional activity
  • Analyze competitor pricing and trends in order to make recommendations that best align with business objectives.
  • Monitor brand performance to determine if adjustments to pricing or promotional strategy are needed
  • Conduct analysis on every-day, promotional and discount strategies. Create dashboards demonstrating current performance, progress and opportunities
  • Conduct margin analysis, inventory aging analysis, and other ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed
  • Provide recommendations to the Merchandising team on markdowns, returns, cancellations, and re-orders to optimize revenue, profits, margin, and inventory efficiency
  • Drive accountability for all merchant-based plans and KPIs
  • Work with several large and complex SQL databases

This role may be for you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-4 years of related e-commerce/retail experience
  • Ability to analyze trends and make business decisions based on findings
  • Proactive and self-motivated work style
  • in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint) with advanced knowledge of spreadsheet (Excel) and database (Access) functionality
  • Experience with SQL a plus
  • Strong experience in driving process improvements using data
  • Strong ability to critically think about current processes, with an eye on questioning the status quo, and recommending best practices
  • Solid analytical, decision making, problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets
  • High sense of urgency and commitment to task with a strong sense of accountability
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize workload
  • Detail and action-oriented self-starter
  • Experience evaluating, analyzing and recommending price strategies
  • Ability to handle competing demands and multi-tasking required
  • Proven organizational skills and very strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity, remain flexible, be results-oriented and work within a team
  • A passion for (preferred!) and knowledge of the fashion/footwear market
